An interview with Nancy Roberts on the occasion of the 2018 session of the Sheikh Hamad Award for Translation and International Understanding
She won first place in the Arabic to English translation category for translating “Safe Weddings” by Ibrahim Nasrallah. She has translated works in various fields, from ancient and contemporary Arabic literature, health care, contemporary events, Christian-Muslim relations, Islamic jurisprudence, thought, and history. Among those whom I translated in the field of literature: Ghada Samman, Naguib Mahfouz, Izzat Al-Kamhawi, Ibrahim Nasrallah, Muhammad Al-Bassati, Hala Al-Badry, Salwa Bakr, Laila Al-Johani, and Ahlam Mosteghanemi. In Islamic jurisprudence: Abdul Rahman bin Muhammad Awad Al-Jaziri, Muhammad Saeed Ramadan Al-Bouti and Taha Jaber Al-Alwani.
